Founded in 1890, Grant Park is the oldest city park in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Second in size only to Piedmont Park, Grant Park has two major attractions besides the park itself: Zoo Atlanta, established in 1889 and originally known as the Grant Park Zoo; and the Atlanta Cyclorama, a cyclorama featuring the 1864 Battle of Atlanta from the American Civil War. The park serves over two million visitors per year.
Grant Park is located approximately 3 miles southeast of Downtown Atlanta.
Grant Park, named after Colonel Lemuel P. Grant, was at the center of the Civil War. Today it is recognized as one of the most historic districts in Atlanta. Grant Park encompasses 131 acres of mature lush green space. A large portion of the building structures you will find here were constructed in the late 19th century. There are several historical landmarks located throughout the Park for residents and visitors alike to view.
